The Principles of Design

The 12 general principles of design fall under 3 broad categories:

Pattern- is simply keeping your design in a certain format. For example, you could plan to have wavey lines all around your design as a pattern, but then you must continue those wavey lines throughout the design for good patterns.
Repetition

Emphasis

Movement, the suggestion of action or direction, the path our eyes follow when we look at a work of art
Contrast


Color
